AMERICAN LAFRANCE V12 ENGINE SERIES

Some surface rust on the chrome trim pieces. There are dents in two of the fenders and a little bit of surface rust above one of the rear fenders where some equipment was once mounted. Once I ran across the blown sub-head gasket, I did not go any further. The carburetors are included I removed them when I was initially going over the engine. If I keep it, I know it will be years before I even have the time to attempt to get it back on the road. I just want someone who has the time to do something with it to give it a good home. The pictures that follow were taken this past weekend. The first three pictures show the truck after we cleaned it up upon its arrival home and show the blown sub-head gasket. I have more pictures of the truck and would be happy to e-mail them upon request if you are looking for something specific. We tested a small area of paint with some wax to see if it would come back, and it did fairly well. My plan was to re-power it with a 6V53 Detroit Diesel Engine, but instead, I purchased another, similar truck that was already re-powered. (It has no starter, distributors, ignition accessories, or carburetors.) I will try to assist the new owner as much as possible with locating parts if they plan on keeping the original engine. I do have a parts engine that I will let go with the truck. I was told it had not been running since at least 2007, but again, I have no way of verifying when the gasket failure took place. No-one offered an explanation or even disclosed it was not running when I brought it back home. The engine will not turn over by hand I do not know if it hydrolocked while it was running, or if it is seized as a result of sitting with water in a cylinder. A sub-head gasket blew sometime between 20, and it allowed water to creep into the oil. It does not currently run and will need to be trailered to its final destination. Its cosmetic and mechanical condition unfortunately deteriorated while it was there. It sat, unattended and somewhat neglected, in a warehouse for the ten years I did not own it (2005-2015). I have owned this particular ALF twice and just recently got it back from the person I had sold it to in 2005. Originally from the Owosso (Michigan) Fire Department. GOOD LUCK BIDDERS! THIS IS A RARE ONE.I am selling my 1952 American LaFrance 700 Series Fire Engine.
